THRIVE Strawberries are one of our top-sellers because they can turn a simple recipe into something spectacular. THRIVE strawberries are freeze-dried so they retain all their natural flavor, color, and nutrients.

Try adding THRIVE Strawberries to ice cream, cereal, granola, or oatmeal for a fabulous burst of bold, fruity flavor. You can also use THRIVE Strawberries to make gourmet desserts and purées. No matter how you use your THRIVE Strawberries you will love their freshly picked taste.

Rehydration Instructions:

Add 1 cup strawberries to ¾ cup water and soak for 1–3 minutes until tender. Drain any excess water. Makes 1 cup sliced strawberries.

What is freeze drying?
THRIVE freeze-dried products are flash frozen, sublimated, and packaged to remove as much water as possible, all without sacrificing quality or nutritional value. These foods last longer and are healthier than foods that are simply dehydrated. Though both processes remove significant amounts of water from perishable food items, the speed of freeze drying locks in existing tastes and nutrients that would be lost during dehydration. Additionally, since freeze drying removes a greater percentage of water than dehydration, the shelf life of freeze-dried food increases by several years.

Storage Conditions

Temperature: Storing THRIVE at a high temperature can significantly increase the speed that calories and vitamins will degrade over time. In the correct storage container, low-moisture foods such as THRIVE can be stored at room temperature or cooler (75 degrees Fahrenheit or lower) and remain nutritious and edible for years. Our stated shelf life assumes that the product will be stored in optimal conditions.

Humidity: The effects of humidity on a closed can are caused by heat and very similar to the effects of high temperature (see above). High humidity can corrode the cans and in some cases even cause the cans to leak. Areas with high humidity can reduce the opened shelf life of the product. As humidity varies with location please use your own discretion to prevent possible sickness from eating spoiled food.

Damaged Container: Minor dents in the center of the can are usually just a cosmetic issue. However, a can that has been dented near or on a seam can have a compromised air-tight seal and allow oxygen to enter the can. If this is the case we recommend using the dented can within the specified opened shelf life, rather than closed.

The best way to maintain the highest quality of your THRIVE products is to take care of them. If you intend on storing your food for the sealed shelf life, store the cans in a place that is not open to elements such as water, light, and air. Take care of it. Don't expose it unnecessarily to the elements. Also, be sure to keep the temperature and humidity low and even. Under these proper storing situations your THRIVE will maintain its delicious taste, natural coloring, and proper nutrients.

  1. Wonder-great!

These are so good. We like them out of the can. We didn't like them re-hydrated at all. They were kind of sour.

  2. Wow!

Now, I'll be honest, I hate freeze-dried strawberries. Especially those sour, tart things they throw in cereal! But, we opened these today. I figured I would get it over with and everyone would say yuck like me and we'd never order them again.... We will be ordering again! How yummy! A slight tangy flavor but nowhere near as bitter and gross as I anticipated. Thank you Shelf Reliance. I couldn't get to the store today and realized we were out of fruit and I was able to provide my kids with a wonderful addition to their dry cereal and milk this morning! They loved it!

  3. My Favorite!!!

Of all the goodies we got in our starter consultant kit & first Q shipment, these are my absolute favorite! I love the freeze dried light crunch & a baggie of these in my purse is the perfect emergency snack when I'm craving sweets! Much healthier than a candy bar! We're looking forward to making granola with these :) We'll have to get a case to keep up with the family demand!

  4. Great as a snack, but.....

Great as a snack, but when I rehydrated them they were fantastic. They were like fresh strawberries. I added a little sugar to them and put them on top of my Chocolate French Butter Spongecake. Everyone loved them.

  5. It's the first thing I have people taste

The strawberries are so impressive because as soon as you open the can, pure strawberry essence hits you in the face like a Mack truck- in the best way imaginable! I have actually been carrying a pantry can in my bag so I have a sample ready when I tell my friends and family about it. One taste and i know they will be as hooked as I am. Similar experiences as those above. I caught my kids sneaking into the kitchen to snatch some at the first opportunity as well. I think they are a great bargain for the price. I live on an island where the produce is dodgy at best. The price for me works out a smidge better than fresh most days, but I know I am going to get consistent quality with my Shelf reliance strawberries, and that is always worth paying a bit more for. It's true, if you leave them too long in the water, they will get really soggy, but no one in my family leaves them uneaten long enough to over hydrate, so its not a problem. Oh yeah- and it's just plain strawberry. I can't get over the fact that there is no extra sugar. It boggles my mind that canned berries taste so good, but I'll take it!

  6. Best Ever!

I've had a lot of freeze-dried strawberries from a lot of different companies, and these are BY FAR the best. They taste very fresh, even in their crunchy form. A lot of freeze-dried strawberries taste a little flat, or "off" somehow; these don't. They're even good reconstituted! They were much firmer reconstituted than some others I've had.

The only drawback is, open these and you've eaten half a can before you know it.

  7. Even the crumbs are awesome!

My kids can't keep their hands out of the can of strawberries! I was left with only the crumbs in the bottom. Even those were put to good use in the my chocolate chip granola bar recipe! Strawberries and chocolate make an excellent combination! No more wasted strawberries! Awesome!

  8. Tart but yummy

I find that the FD strawberries are a bit tart but still very yummy! I eat them right out of the Pantry can as a snack and would give these to my kids/children for a wholesome snack any day!

  9. FANTASTIC!

Out of reach from kids nothing....keep them hidden from me! I love these in cereal, in snacks, in smoothies. Only limit is they are a little mushy reconstituted.

  12. Excellent

Same as users above stated. My kids had these polished off in no time-fighting over the last crumbs. Had to buy more for storage and for them to eat.

  13. Refine Rehydration

Strawberries - need to refine the rehydration a little - if follow the directions completely they become more like mushy red things; either too much water or too long rehydration; flavor is good.

  14. I give the freeze dried strawberries 5 stars

If you want to taste a true strawberry try the freeze dried strawberries. They make heavenly smoothies.

  15. awesome!

My family LOVED the strawberries! Warning! My 2 kids ate 11 serving apiece the first day I opened them so I had to keep the can out of reach. They are excellent in lunches and for afterschool snacks! I mix up several of the freeze dried fruits to take on hikes. I use the powder at the bottom of the can in sprite or in smoothies.

  16. Great Tasting Snack and Healthy Too

I really liked the taste of these strawberries and would recommend them to anyone. They taste great in a shake or on top of cereal. My kids love them! The only problem I see is keeping the kids from eating the entire can. Worth the price!

  17. Very impressed

We were very happy with these. I think the price is a little higher than freeze dried strawberries from some other companies, but the pieces are large which is really great for snacking and for rehydrating (as opposed to the strawberry "dust" from other companies). We'll definatly have some of these in our long-term food storage.

  18. Kid Approved

I bought one can of these for *taste testing*. My (2) children love them straight out of the can. I tried a few - they have a good, strong strawberry flavor, but I'm not crazy about the "freeze dried" texture. My attempt at rehydrating wasn't good - I think I left them in the water too long. They came out soggy & mushy, but kept most of their strawberry flavor.

I'm buying a case while they're on sale & will be rationing them 'cause the kidlets finished off our taste-test can in 3 days!!!!
